Baby It's Cold Outside

It's a slow week here for me in the blogger world. I have been at a total loss for inspiration (and remain so this morning). I have been trying to teach myself how to design a website with Microsoft Front Page (much harder than I thought). I am envious of designers of those slick, polished websites who can whip out a great looking and functional site with ease. No one where I work is capable of designing a website and we're not going to pay someone to do it but I keep hearing things like "what is our website address?", "when are we going to get a website?", "why don't we have a website?", or my personal favorites "our website looks like crap" or "our website is broken". The truth of the matter is that I only put up a one page informational paragraph with one poorly done photo on our site to basically just convey the message that "WE ARE HERE!" You see, I am Contract Sales Manager for a distributor of building products such as doors, frames, hardware, bath accessories, and many, many more items. We sell to homeowners, homebuilders, and general contractors. We assist architects with designs and specifications and write hardware specifications as well. All this doesn't really leave time for learning FrontPage or designing slick webs but I am going to do it anyway. I am a glutton for punishment. What can I say?
On a more personal note, the water heater was out this morning. I re-lit it and now sit writing this blog entry while waiting for the water to get hot. Why do these things always happen at this time of year? Seems like bad luck seems to hang out just outside my door. Hope that I can put off calling the plumber of visiting the water heater department at Home Depot until after Christmas!

Well, I guess the bad luck runs in the family! It's cold up there in Tennessee and your water heater goes out, it's at freezing this morning here in Alabama and our power goes off at 6:15 a.m. just when everyone is having to get up and get ready for school and work. The coffee maker had time to brew enough that me & Marty had to half a cup, which is definately NOT enough to get me going. Now I've been sitting here for 4 hours freezing my butt off with no heat. Finally around 10:20 an Alabama Power truck came up the road...I can only imagine he spent half his morning trying to find us out in these woods!
Oh well, what a life!
Love you,
Sis

Well, I wasn't going to post a comment, but I had to! Frankly, I'm shocked! I thought there was nothing you couldn't figure out on a computer...

I was folding my husbands laundry last night and I felt a drip on my face I looked up and water was dripping through the ceiling! My husband was not home, I did not know what to do. I ran and got a pot to catch the water and started trying to figure out where this is coming from. I finally figured it abut 30 min.later. my refrig turned off and was defrosting all over my floor and bleeding into the ceiling in the laundry room. Aah the pleasures of owning a fixer upper! I had to have a custom door made downstairs because whoever built this room did it all illegally and pathetically and a regular door would not fit!of course!!! it can never be simple. So I was wondering if you have a college or highschool nearby? The kid that made my website is doing an amazing job, for a very reasonable price. Maybe you could get some help, there are lots of interns at colleges that need the work credit. I'm not sure this would work for you but I thought I would throw it out there.

Okay.........
Thanks Dana.
Yes janet, there are things that I cannot do on a computer.
Mark. Yup, finally got to meet Todd in person. It was cool.
Val, thanks for the idea...turns out that Southern Adventist University nearby has a whole department devoted to web design.
